AKC!!! never making a button joined doll again@!

So my doll has button joined arms. I thought it would be okay. then I put the arms on and tried on the cardigan I made for her.

IT DOESN't FIT!!!!! Omg, I am less than a week out for solstice and the two cardi's I made don't fit. they end up having to much fabric in front, but the armholes are to small and to high up.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

Can you frog the sweaters and do them over in a raglan style? Or remove some stuffing in the arms and move the placement down on the body, a bit?

they are raglan! That is the thing.

I figured out if I turn one of them around then it fits ( I made a sort of reversed cardigan where the buttons were in the back so it looked more like a sweater) it fits.

I cast on for another cardigan and at least now I can try it on the doll as I go. But omg, I am never making another button joined doll ever again

It took me TWO button jointed dolls with freakishly broad shoulders to figure that out.

maybe can you make a cardigan like the easy peasy cardigan from little turtle knits (you cast on for the back, knit garter up to the bottom of the sleeves, then cast on a bunch of sts for the sleeves, then knit up, over the shoulders and down the front, leaving an opening for the head and casting off the front of the sleeves. does that make any sense? i bet you could find a picture on her website or on flickr.

Good luck.

Or make a vest where you just knit 2 rectangles and sew them up the sides and shoulders, leaving the armholes as big as you want--then you could always pick up the sleeves at the armholes and knit down--so you'd know that the arm holes would be big enough.

Good luck. I hate having to tweak (or invent) knitting patterns. I like to be a blind follower when knitting...
