Is it Safe to Burn Vanilla?

Thread Starter
I am making a few candles for Christmas presents, and I would rather use actual vanilla than a mysterious fragrance oil. I would be boiling the alcohol out of the vanilla first, so it would be only vanilla.

Considering all that vanilla is used for it seems like it would be safe, but I can't seem to find out for certain, does anyone know?

(I also posted this in body care)

I don't know if you could get it to combine if you're talking alcohol based vanilla extract. But of course vanilla absolute oil is prohibitively expensive. That's why you pretty much never find real vanilla scented products.

Some other ideas are essential oils of cinnamon, tangerine, grapefruit, cedar, lavender, vetiver, ylang ylang, things like that. Go to essential oils on http://go.mothering.com/?id=848X1562...54%26BID%3D713 (mountainroseherbs.com, this special link supports MDC)
