Help! Could this upper abdominal pain be from gas?

I ate a bunch of asparagus tonight and started to feel a little gassy. I laid down on my side and when I got up my upper abdominal area really started hurting. Feels like gas pressure, but below my ribs and above my uterus. Could the pain from gas be so high up because I'm all squished inside, at 30 weeks?

Anyone experience this?

How do I make it go away?

It could be that or it could be reflux, which can sometimes accompany gas. Reflux isn't always experienced as heartburn. A lot of times it can just feel like vague, but very painful, upper abdominal pain.

I obviously don't know if that's what you're experiencing, but it is possible. I hope you get some relief soon, whatever it is. I have killer gas and heartburn during pregnancy. I know how awful it can be.

This might depend if its one sided or not and if it goes away. Pain on the upper right side could be gallbladder related or a sign of pre-eclampsia. Whenever I get gas or stomach pain, it seems to be on my left side. If its in the middle, my guess would be reflux or gas as well. Hope you feel better!

Do you have any referred pain in your shoulders? It feels weird like you pulled something, but out on the tip of your shoulder where there's nothing TO pull?

It could be reflux or gas, or it could be something more serious. If it doesn't ease in a little while you might want to call you careprovider and see what they think.

Thanks ladies. I'm better now.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was some trapped gas. (I was quite burpy and farty) Laying down propped up, taking 1 extra strength Gas-x pill, and drinking a little soda water seemed to help.

Note to self: Do not eat that much asparagus in one sitting again, while pregnant. (vegetables never make me gassy, but I think that's the 1st time I've had asparagus, during my pregnancy. I ate a little more than 1/2 of the bunch

It's pretty hard to STOP eating asparagus! I'm glad you're ok
