Dry skin on thighs?

DS has never had a diaper rash, but lately he has had very dry skin on his thighs where the diaper might hit him (he has darker skin so the area looks ashy and white). At first it was red, but that cleared up after I put some oil on it. I'm using oil (olive) to moisturize his little thighs and behind everyday, but the dryness is continuing. What should I do? Just continue mosturizing?

Yes. It's just friction. Try lanolin or Aquaphor.

Thanks! I have a big tube of lanolin left over from when I was first breastfeeding so that is perfect!

I still need help!!!

Lanolin is not working, and the dryness is spreading up his legs and on his belly. Any inexpensive natural, non-petroleum based recommendations???????

Try cocoa butter or Vitamin E oil

I've been researching the same thing (although my DS has dry skin on his arms too)...could be allergy to something (he's 9 months so we've dialed the solids back a bit) or dry winter air (we're going to start using a warm vaporizer). In the interim, I've been using some Vitamin E oil and it does seem better each morning. By the end of the day though he's all "sandpapery" again. Hope your lo does better soon.
