Does everyone have a name picked out? - Page 3

We've got
Angus Alan Robertson

and after I thought we were going to have Maud for a girl DH changed his mind. So now it looks like

Isolde Clara Dorothea (or Dorothy maybe)

Team green

We have a girl's name picked out, but haven't figured out a boy yet. I'm the sticking point on boy's names as every. single. name. my husband picks is either 1) already used in the family 2) an ex or 3) too popular. Oh, we have also ruled out names that start with C or K, since that would be too alliterative for me with our last name.

He gets most steamed about category #2 and I just laugh at him. Sorry, dude, you marry me close to 40, there is a certain amount of baggage that comes along.

If it's a girl she will be Pandora Moon

a boy we would name Conan Danger (the middle name was DH's idea LOL)

team green!

If it's a girl, her name will be Holly Geraldine (middle name for DH's grandmother) and if it's a boy, he will be Jack Brian (mn for DH). Our older daughter's name is Robin.

Paul Cooper S___, but going by the P. Cooper S___.

I still don't love it, but I got the penis and my husband used that as leverage. I'm still trying to toss another middle name in there so MY family would be represented (Paul and S___ are both my husband's family).

No clue at all... we'll choose only after we meet the new babe...

The baby will get my last name and not DH's. I'm glad that he's so cool with that.

Same here, it was actually at his insistence.

both kids will have my husband's last name, not mine.

I'm a bit cranky about it, but I don't knwo how it happened since we never really discussed it. I think he was upset that I didn't take his last name (goodness knows why) so it was just a placating thing?

I'm so glad to know that I'm not the only one. Everyone IRL thinks I'm nuts for not taking his name but they think I'm really nuts for not giving the baby his name either.

See, I just lopped his name on to the end of mine so I have two last names (no hyphen), but all kids have the "family name."

You guys must live in pretty progressive areas because around here the kids get the father's last name...even if the mother didn't change hers.

Same here. I am getting weird looks all the time. Wyoming is better than Utah though (even though Wy is very conservative too). When I lived in Utah, people just naturally assumed that I had DH's last name and that my son (who has his father's last name) had the same last name. They wouldn't even ask me and then give me this weird alien look when I corrected them. I know when DH goes military (soon now) we will get some weird looks and incorrect paperwork.

Here in Quebec women can not and do not take their husbands name when getting married. The same thing goes for if you get married somewhere else and live in Quebec you need to use your maiden name on all official documents...

So everyone here assumes that married couples do not have the same name because legally you can't use your spouses name unless you go through a legal name change which is a long and expensive process.

However, they always assume that the kids get the dads name... but are not too surprised when the kids have mom's name...

we have our nsme picked out but per my rules, we don't share personal info on the public internet forums.

dp and i are a same-sex couple and i birthed our first son. we have decided all our kids will have my surname but dp has kept her own name. for this baby we have to wait until we do the second parent adoption to change his surname.

That's interesting! I had no idea!

I kept my name, too. DD and DD2 will have DH's name...he was pretty sensitive about that and is still sore about me keeping mine. Both of the girls have/will have my surname as their second middle name. A well enough compromise.

Somewhat OT, it's irritating me to get Christmas cards addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. DH". Every time I see one addressed that way I wonder why people can't just address it to DH and Elizabeth Mylastname. I feel like I need to do a PSA and let everyone know that, in fact, I haven't changed my name.
