First PG - HCG levels question

Has anyone not had their hcg levels double in 2 days, but had a healthy pregnancy?

I had some light (brown) spotting, which got heavier (still brown) on Sunday, so I called the midwife, who had me in on Monday. She took my blood test & sent me for a sonogram, as I would have been 6 weeks this week, from my LMP. The sonogram measured a "gestational sac", and said I was 5 weeks, 2 days, but could not see a baby (which they said was normal for 5 weeks). I have another sonogram next week to see if we have a viable embryo, but my 2nd blood test came back today and it only went from 12,000 to 16,000.

I drank a lot of water before the sonogram, after which I went for the 2nd blood test - could the water have diluted the test?

Trying really hard to be patient and see how this plays out, but I wondered if anyone had had a similar situation. Thank you for your help.

How many days apart were your blood draws? The fact that they are going up is a good sign.

Your HcG levels should double within 48 to 72 hours, not daily, I believe.

and best of luck!

I had a nasty experience with one OB telling me that even though my numbers were rising (but not doubling) that the pregnancy was doomed, but his partner (who thankfully i got bumped to when jerk-face OB was called out during my follow up appointment) thought that was ridiculous. If numbers are rising, things are happening and developing, so try not to over analyse them. I have a healthy and active four year old from that "doomed" pregnancy, who it turns out just could not read text books as a fetus, so she didn't know she was supposed to be pumping out more HCH.

Thanks! They were 48 hours apart, but my midwife said that it's good they're rising. She didn't sound too concerned, but I also was at work while listening and couldn't ask questions. It's good to know there's more of a range. I've been so up and down on the developments this past couple weeks - happy i'm pg, scared i'm spotting, happy it stopped, concerned about the blood test & sonogram, happy to see a sac, concerned again about the next sonogram.

I had no idea it would be this complicated. I thought," Oh, good a positive pg test, now it's smooth sailing. Ha."

Ah yes, I remember this feeling too! I was super freaked out about my Hcg levels when I was carrying DD (now 21 mos). I had had a previous MC and was so scared. I spotted for 6 weeks and had many blood tests: some days the levels doubled, sometimes they didn't. It is agonizing but having BTDT I would agree to do anything you can to try to relax. Once a heartbeat is detected it is easier....
