Crawling on slick floor surfaces

Just wondering if anyone else has been looking for a solution to (my grandson in this case) your baby not being able to crawl because of wood floors? My grandson does a really good army crawl, but get's up on all fours often. . . the problem was he just couldn't get any traction. I was frustrated for him, but I'm not sure it's really a concern of many moms.

Would appreciate your feedback if your baby is at this stage. Thanks so much

Mine is! We just let her slide. She's actually at the stage now where she prefers sliding around on the hardwood b/c she can slither around better. Don't worry, he'll figure it out really quickly! In the meantime, you can let him crawl naked so he can get some skin traction, if you're worried about him getting too frustrated. My DD loves this! (But be prepared to deal with the consequences if you leave a diaper off for too long! We required an emergency bath and a full extra load of laundry this morning thanks to my brilliant idea to do this...)

All we have is wood & ds did just fine. Yes, he slid around some but all in all it was ok.

We only have one room with carpet in the house and she does spend a lot of time on the carpet. When she first started crawling, she wouldn't go on the hardwood floors. Now, she gets up on all fours, feet and hands, when she's on the hardwood. I think it hurts her knees (she often doesn't have pants on), so this is her solution.

We've never done anything special to get her used to the hardwood, she just adjusted to it. I'm sure your grandson will too.

He'll learn. We only have smooth floors, and my son started out all belly scooting, then progressed to belly scooting on smooth floors and standard crawling on less slick surfaces, then to standard crawling everywhere. There was a long gap between getting up on hands and knees and forward crawling, but he got there in the end.

They really do figure it out, I promise We have all hardwood floors though we do also have two big area rugs in our two main rooms which really helps w/ comfort for playing on the floor sometimes. But they figure it out
