Major increase in poopy diapers - is it something I'm eating?

For a long while, DS was only producing one poopy diaper a day, in the morning. Now all of a sudden he's putting out five or six! It also coincides with the appearance of cradle cap and increased fussiness... He's 14 weeks old now.

I'm a vegan, and I recently started drinking more soy (to fill me up and give me more calories instead of just drinking water). It seems possible to me that this might be the sign of a food sensitivity - is he reacting to the increase of soy in my diet? And how long would I have to go without eating soy to test this theory? (I know that milk proteins can persist in a body for 2 weeks after eating).

Any suggestions? Or should I just take the increase of poopy diapers as just another change in my baby?

Sure sounds like it could be! Soy is a huge, well-known allergen. I would try going off it for 2 weeks or so. Eat eggs and have more beans, etc for your protein.

I agree, except vegans don't eat eggs... I think it takes a couple weeks for most things to clear our systems. I just found "SO Delicious" brand coconut milk drink at a local store and have been enjoying it. They also make a good ice "cream". Maybe that would be a suitable alternative for the time at least.

I think you may be right. Sounds like it could be sensitivity to soy. (Maybe not a total intolerance, but sensitivity to the amount you've been consuming.) So Delicious coconut milk beverages are a wonderful alternative to soy milk. And their Purely Decadent coconut milk ice cream is incredible. They also make coconut milk yogurt, kefir, and coffee creamer, which I use all the time in my chai tea now. Be careful not to eat anything else that might have soy in it, like tofu, or other things like soy cheese or veggie burgers or regular Earth Balance Buttery Spread (they do make a soy-free version now.) As you said, do this for about two weeks, and then see how he's doing after that.
