short stories about clutter :P

Anyway, that works nicely for getting a last little play out of stuff that's not so great (and things I wouldn't donate).
Definitely! In our house, little useless things like that generally go into an empty oatmeal box and get stashed with D's toys. They were the first thing to go when I started this challenge!
That stack of receipts I was getting ready to go thru at the end of the last post? that was TEN MONTHS worth of almost everything I bought! I organized all the food ones into a pile for each month, and tossed all the rest (80!). I wasn't sure exactly how much crunching I was gonna do because this was a LOT of numbers from ever since I moved here.... and then when I was transporting the stack, the clip I was using got overburdened and fanned them all out everywhere!! Poof! So from now on either I am going to look at that sort of thing at the end of the month or I am going to let it go!!! The slips I was keeping track of (the ones I intended to toss) count for eight, and as for the rest.... I'll just count each monthly stack as one. But these were some big stacks! I go grocery shopping really often because it's a nice stroll for D and I. We have a Whole Foods and a Dominick's just down a trail behind our house and across the street!
So that put us at 90/85!
I took Thursday and Friday off, for obvious reasons... went to the library this morning, dropping off three books, and walked out with five! So adding three to my gone pile and 25 (its five per item in, right?) to my goal, I'm at 93/210! WHOO! ...This will start to get tough if I don't get over to my ex's (aka my storage space
).. but if I do, I will be able to make the goal within a few hours! If I could even count....
but in the meantime, there is plenty to do here! Tonight, it is the area in the kitchen cabinet with D's stuff. We used to have ONE sippy cup, for months... then the silicone developed some sort of persistent yuckiness from not getting washed out right away :/ probably due in part to my refusal to put it through the dishwasher, so it just sat out on the counter... anyway, so I got a 2 pack of these Nuby sport top sippies- awful! This time I went ahead and put them in the dishwasher from the beginning, and now less than a month later they both leak terribly... one I stabbed on a prong so it would stay on the top rack (didn't work, created a larger hole that leaks), the other got burned by the heating element but that's not where the leak came from, still a mystery how that one spontaneously started leaking... so anyway I realized today that ALL THREE of these sippy cups were in this cabinet, not only the two that kinda work, but the one super gross one too! Classic error- figured I would replace the one piece and then forgot about it in the back of the cabinet. I pulled that stuff down, and this tiny basket with her little spoons and some toys and random stuff.... and I realize, we still have bottles, teethers she never uses.. useless stuff!
Once you're into the swing of decluttering, don't you kinda love finding a little crap jackpot you had forgotten?!
Nine things with a total of 29 pieces... I feel pretty confident about my progress toward the goal, so I will count it as nine:102/210
