Well done. I've been noticing that as I let go of my extra stuff, I have more energy to do all the projects that have been on the back burner for months (or years). I trimmed the extra slats off my window coverings today, and it felt so good. It's amazing to tap into all that fresh energy that was stagnated in clutter. Today's work:

#197: about 100 slats from blinds
#198, 199: two trash containers
#200: candle stub
#201: paint brush

87-88. I found two iron-on-doodads in a drawer. I ironed them on dds' jeans.

other than that, it was a slow day on account of us having to say goodbye to a fur-baby. She was in declining health and suddenly couldn't walk last night. achy heart.

I'm not much of a shopper, but I distracted myself today by going to a thrift clearance center where everything was 50cents. I bought 35 things, so tomorrow, I will work on that penalty. I have already detagged the items, and will work on laundering them tomorrow. I consider NOT letting them sit unused to be a step in the right direction. I got about 7 wool sweaters to felt and sew into diaper covers ... and 10 tshirts for a dd project of sewing into tshirt bags that she wants to "sell" (she's trying to save up to buy an american girl doll and has been working really hard at making crafts to sell like a lemonade stand ... sigh ... at least she's entrepreneurial!). also bought some beaded sandals that she is de-beading to use the beads for jewelry-making. we will freecycle the naked shoes asap.

I have quite a few things listed on freecycle right now.

good night!

Tossed 6 spices I never use. (I need to get my total going!)

I maybe had a set back today.

dropped two bags off at thrift (after letting another girlfriend look through them first) and then got about five items from her- items her daughter doesn't fit yet. I also got rid of oh around 4 years of vegetarian times and set aside two books that need to go back to the university that have been on loan for around 5 years they're in the car but I ran out of time before work.
Then this evening I went looking for organizers for my craft stuff- didn't find what I was looking for but got a organizer I put in the front closet for shoes--may move it to the pantry--not sure yet and two yearly date books-one for me and one for hubby (would this be a consumable item???) I'll pitch mine right away after I transfer the info I need out of my old one.

I *think* I disposed of at least 5x of what I brought in... I'll keep working on reducing though! This is beginning to get a little bit challenging now that I've sorted through the "easy" clutter.

I am up to 117/220- still all books. I went through a second box this evening, and there is a third waiting! From what I sorted yesterday, I noticed two books got added to the "go to the library" pile, and the rest I guess she wants to keep in case she will have her own library in the future . From the box full I sorted today, only TWO went into the "listed for sale" pile. Plus I listed a book of mine.. somehow I got four items out of that... This next box is overflowing, it will be tough. Plus it includes a couple books that I treasured once upon a time... but I am ready to send them off. They are very common though so I doubt they will make it onto our amazon listings

Yesterday I cleaned out some mail stacks that were haunting me. I did not do too well yesterday to be honest, but that is ok. I have today!

Last night I went through the cabinet where I keep plastic containers and got rid of:

2 glass jars (recycled)
3 nice containers I never use (Goodwill)
1 handful of letter magnets (threw away)
1 cheap plastic grater my mom got me (Goodwill)
13 gross old containers with lids (threw away)

I also gave 9 pencils to ds's teacher who needs them, and sold a book via half.com.

So that's 30 items -- I bought two books and a magazine with my found money so I'm still ahead by 15 (I rarely buy books so I'm okay with this purchase).

Oh, one other thinig -- I find that I am trying to use and use up "nice stuff" I was keeping for special -- things like bath salts and fancy soaps and perfume. Use it up and enjoy it!

Just shredded the shred pile. Well over 200pcs of paper in there so +20 added to my count.

I need to get a rubbermaid tote to store the kids completed projects from this school year. Homeschooling 3 kiddos all doing the same art projects is taking over my dining room sideboard. DH is not ready to just take pics and pitch the stuff, so we'll store it for the school year and go through it during the summer as a compromise.

I am bound and determined to make sure we do it just due to the fact that my parents still have boxes of school stuff from when *I* was a kid. I'm going to be 30 in March and they've moved since I graduated high school. WHY?!?! I ask, why are they holding onto them still?!?!

That will NOT be me and my family. I will NOT be tied down by clutter.

ETA~ 60 more pcs of paper dealt with. So another +6

Lolar2-yes ma'am I did LOL. Actually it was only one light down and replaced with modern looking track lighting. I am on a "wow my kitchen looks freakin nice" high right now. I keep looking for more to take out of there but we are getting down to the minimum. Except my vintage Pyrex collection. It is neatly arranged in my midcentury cabinet though. It isn't going anywhere. It makes me happy and I use it whenever I need to. I will put up some pics as soon as the sun ever shines so I can take some.

I am considering a knife block purchase today. So I will have to add on five tonight if that happens.

Started on my dining room sideboard. Found a whole lot of books that need repairing

Trashed or recycled another 3 catalogs, 30pcs random papers, and a book beyond repair.

I will be running errands today and will be picking up the rubbermaid so I can continue making progress on the sideboard.

I got a lot of cleaning done today. D is with her dad for the afternoon & evening. We alternate visitation away with him visiting here, so this is the first non-holiday he has taken her in a while! Still have another box waiting of books to list... really haven't decluttered but I got rid of the usual random recycling and trash. I organized the top shelf of the hall closet and cut down on the space taken up by games and our old craft stuff, but I can't get rid of any of this stuff or my mom would kill me!! I dusted... would like to vacuum but it is broken Hmm I wonder what I can do to get a quick five items, I have been kind of a slacker lately... I think I've gotten to the point where I've gotten rid of what I want to get rid of for now. Guess we will have to travel to my ex's house for next week's visit! I can definitely make up for a whole week over there!!

Got ten in today! That puts me five ahead, yay.

The challenge:
12/29—27/5
12/30—37/5
12/31--0/65
1/1—5/5
1/2—32/5
1/3 –17/5
1/4—47/5
1/5--40/45
1/6 20/5

236/255-- (Penalties added for new things purchased.. )

I'm pleased that I only have one day that I didn't meet the challenge of getting rid of 5 items.. Ironically that was the day that I got a penalty of 60.. lol Luckily most days I manage to get more then 5 and that makes up for my purchases when they happen..

Today is my first official day of participation in this contest (I just read about it yesterday!)...

I tackled a big project: The cupboard under the sink in the master bathroom.
Almost 100% of it is stuff we have never used in the past 2 years, but some of it was stuff that I would have used, had I known where it was... So I kept those, and chucked the rest.

Another new participant I love this challenge! We're hoping to buy a house soon and we have way too much stuff. Stuff that would be very silly to move with us and that needs a new home anyway.

1/4- I bagged up 24 winter clothes items to give to my cousin's baby girl. She's just a couple months younger than my littlest dd, perfect!

1/5 - I bagged up 37 items to give to my cousin's baby girl. Mostly toys, a pj set, and a few pairs of socks. Both bags went out the door, yay!

61/150

Wow, this feels good!

Oh yeah, I have a ?. My grandma is staying with us (temporarily as long as her plans go right). Do I need to count the stuff she is bringing in against me? I feel like its a no because her stuff likely won't be staying with us. Besides, she is bringing in a LOT of stuff, lol. Some of it she already owned, but she also is buying stuff too. She is a foodie and likes to cook. She has cooking supplies in three other family members houses too. If she doesn't have just the right tool for whatever she'd like to do she either won't make it or will go buy it. So, what do you all think?
