You reminded me I wanted to check that out. I signed up today, same username, but nothing done with my account yet. I'm fairly new to knitting, so far I've only done scarves and hats knitted flat. I bought some circular needles to try out this cute blanket/sack for the new baby. I won't start that until after Christmas as I want to attempt a few more hats before then! I better get going.

I think I found you guys there, fun to see what you've been working on! Here are two knitting patterns I found on Ravelry recently for anyone interested in knitting for your baby...

Leg warmers: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...tle-legwarmers I thought these would be great for under a layette gown for easy diaper changing those first few weeks. I just started a pair but only have a few inches done.

Newborn hat: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...t-fit-baby-hat This one is supposed to fit newborn babies. So many baby hat patterns are too big. I cast on and finished in a couple hours, it looks like it will fit well.

Wallaby Sweater: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/yarn...derful-wallaby I want to try and find this pattern, I really like it.

Knitted Nursing Pads: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nursing-pads I want to try these.

Ohh I think I will need to make those overall longies once I know whether this is a boy or girl!

I just finished my first pair of longies (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sheepy-pants) today and other than the fact that somehow one leg came out about .75cm shorter than the other (enough of a difference that DH noticed, but I'm hoping I can block into shape LOL) I am really pleased with them.

I might try the Sheepy Sack too - seems like a smart idea for nighttime!

I made this hat for a friend's newcomer - yeah, it won't fit straight away, but it was a really nice easy knit and came out perfectly - and we're just starting our winter here so it'll fit before the end!

Ooooh! Fun ones! I'll have to try that sheepy sack. I have a worsted skein of wool from Zen Strings that I'd love to use but it's not quite enough for a sweater, longies, or anything. Thanks for idea!

It turned out nice with the changes and certainly newborn size. But the original pattern link is there, too.

Oh I like this. I prefer knitting in the round too, so I may try your notes. Love the colours you used! I've only been knitting since November, and need to figure out where locally I can source Malabrigo, since it seems every third pattern I see uses some kind of Malabrigo yarn!

I figured out the circular needles and this is the pattern I used: http://www.blogster.com/nittineedles...t-free-pattern It was really, really easy and quick! I am going to make baby a hat to match, since I have some yarn left over.

I love those baby leg warmers - I hope to get to those too before baby gets here.

Did you work with 2 strands of yarn together? How does that work? Of course, I suspect that our cat would take up residence in that cuddle bag long before the baby got here

No I didn't use two strands, I just used a super chunky yarn and it worked out fine.

I got the yarn for the leg warmers today, but I hate that I can't just go to JoAnn's or Michaels for my circular knitting needle needs - they only have 29in ones and those are way too big for the leg warmers! Grrrr
