Labor after C/S faster?

I didn't labor at all with my DD because she was breech and we opted for a c/s with her.

Do you know if labor could progress more quickly due to this being #2?

I know that the 2nd birth for women can go faster than their 1st but would that be true with c/s mama's?

Thanks!

From what I've read, if you never labored with your first, then this one will be like a first labor.

I was in the same situation - #1 was breech, #2 was a VBAC. I was told I would labor like a first-time mom. Indeed, my labor started around 2:00 PM and baby was born at 3:26 AM. Don't worry - you'll do great! And you *will* know when it's real, I promise. The reason #2 would typically go faster is that the cervix has BTDT (effaced and dilated) - not the case if you never went into labor before, though.

I have heard different things from different people.

Some say it has gone faster; some say it has gone longer; some say it was about the same.

I think it all depends upon the person and I also think on how much scar tissue and where it is located. If the scar tissue is interfering then it may take longer.

Yeah, if you've never labored it will be a first time labor even if it is your second child. That being said not all first labors are hard and long. I've known first time moms to labor like second time moms. It just depends on your body and the baby.

There is just no way to predict anything. My labor was very long with my VBAC. I had a lot of prodromal labor which I didn't have with my c-sectio baby. However, there are 2 women in my local ICAN group who were able to labor at home for a while and then show up at the hospital and push their babies out within 45 minutes (one had labored and pushed and one barely labored during her failed induction)

I'm interested to see how my labor will be with jellybean. I labored for 17hrs with my DD and made it to 6cm before having to have an emergency c/s.

This is what I've heard time and time again as well.

Of course, some mamas have labors that are very short, some very long (even #3 and beyond may be longgggg). So, that's hard to say. But I've always heard to look at this as your first L&D as far as what to expect in how long it may take.

I'm curious too! I labored for less than 12 hours, got to 6 cms... So we'll see! I'm hoping the BTDT a bit for my cervix will make it all a bit faster/smoother...

I had 2 c-sections and as you know an all natural birth with my 3rd! From my water breaking to her coming out took 6 hours! it was awesome!
So, i think it just all depends on "you". You will do great! dont look at a clock it goes by faster this way

Regarding the original question "faster" than what?

Yeah, I've only had 1 baby so far & 1st stage was less than 5 hours - from the first, "oh, huh, there's a ctrx finally!" 2nd stage was about 45 min - so I'd say that's more typical of a 2nd-timer. My doula on the other hand, labored 12 hours still with #2 and 3 (although that was shorter than with #1, but he was OP).
