Formula Suggestions for Weaning?

Thread Starter
I am going back to work and not pumping enough while I am away from my baby. I am trying to breastfeed mostly but supplement a few bottles a day with formula. So far I am using Earth's best Infant Formula and he seems to like it.
Wondering if anyone else has tried to co-feed ..breastfeed and use formula? Soy or non-soy?

Many people here use both for various reasons. Even if you can only bfed a little that is much better than nothing.

I'm going to move this out to the general Breastfeeding forum since you're asking for info on both breastfeeding and formula supplementation.

Have you thought at all about donor milk?

I breastfeed part time and supplement with formula part time. I started that when he was about 2 months old, because I was in school and not able to pump while away.
I supplement with Similac Sensitive. I avoid soy formula (and all soy products for the most part) because it is suspected to contribute to prostate cancer (which runs in DF's family) and because Monsanto "owns" almost all of the soybeans in this country and genetically alters the seeds with pesticides, and my son has a problem with spitting up. The only formula he will take without spitting up is Similac Sensitive. So that's what we do.

Just wanted to pop in and second the no soy formula...or at least cover your bases and read a lot about it if you choose it. There is some pretty concerning information about soy out there.

I supplemented 5-7 oz per day due to low supply and possibly poor pump response until my DD was six months old. (After starting solids she refused to take any more formula.)

Third on the no soy formula - it's only recommended if your LO has a specific reaction to cow's milk formula. We switched around between Similac and Enfamil. Tried the Earth's Best but didn't like it - it didn't seem to dissolve well and always left clumps in the bottle. Baby hated them all, poor thing , but used to drink the stuff if hungry and no BM available.

I've heard the store brands are actually better than the name brands -- the factory where they are made is ISO certified for safety:

You might also check out Milk Share:

and post a request for donor milk in the finding your tribe for your area.
