Strange Tooth Malformation?

My DD just cut her upper front teeth a couple weeks ago and I have started noticing some discomfort while nursing her...like little razors rubbing on my nipple. So I took a look at her teeth and felt around on them. I noticed one of her teeth looks like its growing in with a shard missing from the middle...it feels like there's a space and when I look it seems that there's a section where I can see pink (her gum) between two pieces of tooth. Her teeth are partially errupted, like maybe a few millimeters in length. Should I take her to the doc or dentist to have this checked out? It looks very strange.

How much tooth is actually through? The teeth will come in with little "nubbies" on them to help them get through the gum and then they will wear away. It could be that there isn't enough of the tooth through for you to see any more than just the nubbies. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's all the way through and still looks weird.

The tooth is about three quarters in and the missing part now just looks like a chip in the tooth, even though it grew in that way. It still hurts to nurse and I wonder if that tooth is more prone to decay. I'm going to call the dentist once the office reopens after the new year. After seeing how it has grown in I can definitely say that I overreacted at first. Thanks!
