Do you still take prenatals?

My dd is almost 13 months and still gets 75% or more of her nutrition from breastmilk. my dr suggested I should keep taking prenatals. I haven't taken any since dd was about 6 months just because i consistenly forgot to take them.

if you're nursing a toddler, do you still take prenatals?

I do.

I took them before I was pregnant with DD too. And probably will continue to take them until I am done TTC.

I stopped when my daughter was about a year old, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to stop taking them until you're done breastfeeding altogether. I really should try to start taking them again.

I'm still taking them and DD is 17 mths.

According to my doc, she wants me to continue to take them until she weans.

To help me remember to take them, I routinely take them with my daily treat. :-D When I have my three oatmeal cookies, I also take my vits.

I read somewhere once that you should take prenatals for at least 6 months before you get pregnant. (I think it was something to do with folic acid, taking it once you know you're pregnant is already too late). I figure it's easier to just keep taking them for now. Then I know I'll have everything I need when I get pregnant again and it will make sure my milk (and me) get all the vitamins needed.

No, I know that you are supposed to, but I don't. I just can not choke them down anymore. I quit as soon as DS was born (2 years ago).

I do, but more in case I get pregnant than because of nursing DD (there is a history of neural tube problems in my family).

I quit taking them when DD was maybe a year old? she's 3 now and I started taking them 3 mo ago b/c I felt extremely tired and wiped out. I chose the Rainbow Light ones b/c they have a lot of iron, which I think mine was low and causing some symptoms. I will definitely stay on them from now on.

I switched over to the Rainbow Light Women's daily vitamin about the time DS2 turned two. It has plenty of folic acid, and pretty much all the other stuff the prenatals have, plus some additional minerals and stuff that aren't in the prenatal formula. And they were a few bucks cheaper. At least that was what I gleaned from my brief overview while standing there in the aisle comparing labels.

I take them. I try to eat a balanced diet but I'm far from perfect. Also, I want more kids. It's a habit I'm not fond of and I know if I ditch it I won't get going again.

I take a whole bunch of supplements and my multi is a prenatal. I've got about 30 left and then I'm switching to a liquid multi but it will probably be a prenatal formulation as well.

Hmm I'm checking out Rainbow Light Prenatals vs Womens' and I think the prenatal still looks preferable. Prenatal has 167% Iron and 100% Iodine vs 33% and 0 in the women's. Hmmm, but the Prenatals have D2, where women's have D3.

I have been taking Trader Joe's prenatal, but it's kind of a long drive for me, so I'm switching to buying Rainbow Light Prenatals again. I plan to stick with this until she weans and then re-evaulate.

I do. But I'm also hoping to conceive again soon so I figured I should just continue on.

Yep--my plan was to stay on them until she weaned unless I got pregnant before then. She is now 21 months old and I am 7 months pregnant; I will taking prenatals forever!

I just started TTC so I started taking a prenatal again for the iron. Before that I was taking a multi with extra B vitamins. Both have the same amount of folate. The kind I am on anyway. You dont have to take a prenatal. If both you and your DH take vitamins you can both take a basic multi if you like, so you dont have to buy 2 different kinds of vitamins.

I take them when I remember to, at least 4-5 times a week and DS is 23 months. I did switch to one that is a bit cheaper.
