Pikkolo Fleece Cover - worth it?

Just wondering what people who live in colder climates do when wearing their babies outside? Is the fleece cover worth it for an extra $40 - or is there some other way to keep baby warm?

Thanks!

I usually just bundle them a little lighter than I would in a stroller. A fleece bunting, hat, mittens, maybe an extra blanket over the top to block the wind. Depending on how cold, I might not use the bulky fleece bunting since babe is cuddled against your body. But I've found just putting a heavy blanket over the top of the carrier is usually enough.

It's great when you don't want to bundle them up - when out and about - you can use it to cover the car seat as well. But when it's really cold - I put mine in a bunting too......
I also have a vest (with baby head hole. I've seen a pattern for a fleece no sew poncho.....you could google it......I didn't see it until after I bought the cover!
Ahhh found it:

I'm a beginner at sewing and it only took me 1 hour to make a babywearing jacket out of a fleece I bought at salvation army and some extra fleece I had laying around my pile.
Here are some instructions.
