What is on your Christmas dinner menu? - Page 3

For us Christmas eve is food from DH's homeland and he cooks...

Fried fish
Kidney beans and sour cream
Split peas with garlic
Potato salad

Pumpkin pie for dessert (I make this)

Christmas Day...

Bfast will be eggs and sausage maybe cinnamon rolls.

Lunch is ham and turkey from Honeybaked Ham (gift certificate!) and leftover sides from Christmas Eve.

No idea, but it might not happen since I lazed out today and didn't track down any sushi grade fish. Talin Market usually has it, but I need to call tomorrow morning to make sure. Otherwise, I'm not really sure where to buy it here. I hate living in a land locked state!

Christmas Eve we always have tacos - lots of red and green and nutrition for excited kids! For Christmas dinner the kids have cheese fondue but dh is lactose intolerant so I will make a tummy pasta dish too.

Tomorrow night we'll have orange honey chicken, mashed potatoes, and salad. Christmas day my plan is beignets and scrambled eggs for breakfast; cheese/nuts/fruit/bread tray for lunch/throughout the day; and dinner is baked brie with cranberries, pumpkin ravioli, and gingerbread cake.

I just bought it this morning from the local cheese shop, which makes different fresh raviolis. They also had mushroom, and not surprisingly, various cheese combos, but it looks like pumpkin is the most popular, there were only a few packages left!

I'm making everything for Christmas eve dinner and Christmas morning, and will prep the brie today, but after breakfast tomorrow, it's an easy cooking day for me!

We do the traditional meal around here. Our favourite part by far though is the boxing day turkey sandwich extravaganza!! I think we have sarnies for every single meal on that day... with mayo and cold gravy and cranberry sauce. oh my goodness! Yummy! I am ready for it now! I found a grain free bread recipe this year so I can actually partake in a " real" sandwich.

The sponge is in the oven for the trifle. Gluten, dairy and egg free!

I'm trying to set my menu right now so I can go to the store for last minute stuff.

- standing rib roast
- scalloped potatoes
- some kind of green bean preparation (suggestions?)

Hmm, sounds kinda of boring, but I'm sure it'll be tasty!

Also, for Christmas breakfast I'm going to make Alton Brown's overnight cinnamon rolls. It will be nice to have them ready to go in morning.

I made a beef wellington with a brandy caper sauce, a cauliflower gratin, a green salad and store bought pumpkin pie.

it was all so ridiculously good, but we have so many leftovers its a bit crazy...and none of us could even touch the pie because we are so full of beef and gratin. only one of us had room to even attempt salad, and after three bites that had to be abandoned.

i used tyler florence's recipe for the ultimate beef wellington and ina gartens recipe for cauliflower gratin.

This meal was a total KEEPER! best xmas eve dinner ever!

We had, and thoroughly enjoyed, pulled pork in the crockpot, vinegar slaw, BBQ beans and gluten-free cornbread. We went Southern this year!

Well it was NOT a traditional dinner in my book. It was roast beef (which was really good), mashed potatoes, mushroom gravy, can cranberries (I always make fresh), picked cabbage, cauliflower (which has a sauce and cheese on top). Oh and homemade pumpkin pie.

So, I think I will have to make a Christmas Dinner for our family. I was really counting on leftover turkey sandwiches, turkey stock/soup.
