When our twins were about 16 months old (they're 18 months now) we decided to encourage nightweaning by letting dh continue to sleep with them while I left the bed and slept across the hall in the bottom bunk of ds1's bed. It went surprisingly well with very little fuss and we went from them nursing 10+ times a night to almost none. I still continue to nurse them if they need to when sick or exceptionally demanding but overall they STTN almost every night.
I've tried a couple of times to get back into the family bed but they immediately start nursing all night long again. They can totally tell when I am in the room. I want to get back and enjoy the nighttime snuggles but I can't go back to nursing them all night again. I could nurse my older two while almost staying asleep but I can't sleep through the tandem nursing.
We're starting to think that maybe we should set up the room as "their" room and move myself and dh out (we have a master bedroom available that dh and I plan on using again one day).
Is there any way to get me back into the family bed without going through the "weaning" again? If I did it I know there would be a lot of crying as opposed to them just accepting dh when I'm not there.
