Webpages that explain winter solstice?

Well, I missed the boat this year and all the books our library has on Solstice are already taken out. I'd like one or more resources to explain to my 10 and 5 year old what winter solstice means, from a scientific viewpoint as well as cultural.

There are a few old threads here with some great ideas for solstice activities, but does anyone know of a web page that just explains what solstice is about, in terms a child can understand?

Thank you!

Here is one with some information on pagan solstice celebrations (assuming you meant that type of thing by cultural)

And here is a bit of a scientific explanation with good pics showing the how & why.

More assorted info

A Solstice Tree for Jenny is perfectly aimed for the young school child. Maybe the library has a copy.

For sites, I like.....
