So DS has a rash, he pooed in the middle of the nigh last night, but we didn't catch it till the am...so now he has a super bad rash. I've been changing him frequently and he is currently airing out. Last diaper change he was bleeding a little bit I want to put something on it tonight, here is what I have to work with: Burts Bees, California Baby, Magic Stick. Which one? Should I get a dif kind in the am? He has never has a bleeding type rash before. I use cloth, should I put him in a sposie? TIA

I would give him a bath with no soap & put baking soda in the water I usually dump 1/2 to 1 C in the let him soak as long as he will 20 min is a good goal but every bit helps. Then dry him gently & put corn starch on him id ya have any.

My daughter used to get really bad diaper rashes. An old and wise pediatrician told me to put milk of magnesia on at every change and let it air dry. He also said to quit using wipes and just clean with water. Worked like a charm every time.

Poor little guy. If you have acidophilus (or any probiotic powder) - put some sort of ointment on and then sprinkle on the powder. Cleared up my DS's butt right away.

Grind up some plain oats and put a cup or so in his bath water and let him soak in that-oatmeal baths always do wonders on rashes for my kids. Also, letting lots of air get to it, and only using water to clean at diaper changes.

Our go-to rash cream is Burt's Bees.

Another vote for Burt's Bees - I just put some on ds tonight due to a diaper rashy day

The few times ds has gotten diaper rash I have put him in a disposable so that I could really slather on the butt cream without worry of wrecking a diaper.

I am a big fan of the Northern Essence Diaper Rash salve. It does the job really well and does not have any of the nasty petroleum stuff that will wreck your diaper. However, if you choose another product, you can always just use a liner to protect the diaper. Might be easier than going out and buying disposables unless you already have some in the house.

Hope you child feels better soon.

Loving all the suggestions. One more, I had a peri-bottle around from after the birth, and it occurred to me that you can fill it with warm water and it makes the perfect tool to gently rinse baby's bottom during diaper changes. When she had a rash, I did that and patted her dry so I didn't have to touch her little sore bottom. I was amazed that her rash cleared up in 2 days, our ped said it would take a week!
