Biscuit-like something without an oven?

We seem to have a jinx on our kitchen appliances - that when they die it must be near major holidays. The oven is dead as of yesterday, and we're not sure whether we'll be able to get a repair-person out here before the holiday (or if they'll need parts, etc.). Our traditional Xmas morning breakfast includes biscuits, so I'm trying to figure something out to make something biscuit-like. We do not have a toaster oven - just a regular pop-up toaster and the stove-top.

Any suggestions?

Fried bread?

You can use a yeast-bread dough or a baking-powder dough, rolled out and cut into strips, then fried in a bit of oil. Delicious served with honey, or powdered sugar, or even butter and jam I would imagine.

I've made frying pan biscuits when camping.

Here's the recipe:

2 c. sifted flour
3 3/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
6 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Stir in milk, knead on lightly floured surface. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with floured biscuit cutter. Cook in lightly greased hot skillet over very low heat until brown on underside and about 1 inch thick. Turn, brown on other side. Yield: 18 biscuits.

Do you have a crockpot? I've made stew in there before and just popped the biscuits on top during the last 30 mins or so to cook up. I guess technically you could call them dumplings, but they're very biscuit like.

Maybe do up a crockpot of overnight oatmeal and plop the biscuits on top of that?

Welsh cakes!! They are a little like scones, only cooked on a griddle, like pancakes. They are sweeter than biscuits, but surely that's okay on Christmas morning.

Here are 2 recipes:
