we will be doing PWB after Jan 1 as a Prek 4/5 curr spine.

I searched both PWB and FIAR here and read eery old thread i could.

it seems to me over and over again people were happier with PWB.

a number of the FIAR books are harder to fine being one reason.

That being said, I have two boys 23 months apart -- my current "plan" is to do PWB 2x through to get Theo to late kindy / first grade THEN to do FIAR once with both boys -- as Theo's Kindy and and as Chalre's Prek % year. because i do want to have a bit of variety.

ther eis a Yahoogroup

I have not found a Peak With Books yahoo group.

I suggest you search this area for old threads.

We had five in a row given to us and i like it! I looked a little at peak with books and it seems to "young" for my kids. Plus we already read most of the books 100x where as a lot of the FIAR books are new to us.

can you elabortate on how / why it "felt too young"?

we have not bought it yet -- and i'd love to hear all about it we can.

from the book list and the samples i saw it seems more of a preschool program and it seem designed for a classroom. It looks cute for preschool but my oldest is in first. FIAR is a thin manual, but I think looks can be deceiving. It touches on some advanced topics IMO. Plus it is what you make of it. You can breeze through all orally and just touch on topics or you can spend some time and really get involved with it. We tend to do books for 2 weeks (not reading everyday though). My kids like to get into things and we rarely have time for all the activities we want in one week. I also like to be creative. I think FIAR can give you a nice jumping point You can find some cool add on activities on Homeschoolshare.com and from other blogs who use it. Like we made a cool wearable human body when we were doing the digestive system with Madeline. If you are into Lapbooking or note booking you can get printouts for it too.
Anyway, I'm VERY tired. My baby has been up all night partying the past three nights so if I'm not making any sense I apologize. For me I think Peak with books looks like a cute, fun, preschool program, but for my DD I think the books choices are just two young for her. Even though FIAR does use picture books most of them so far had a little more depth to them then what I saw from the peak with books list. I think you however should totally get it! I bet both your kids could get involved and have fun .

THANKS i appercipate the effort.

I didn't realize your DD was in 1st.

I am looking to make it a pre-K 4/5 program here -- so i think it will work. we plan to do FIAR in a few years anyway so we'll get them both in.

Theo is a little behind (he is SN) so i want more "fun preschool" school than anything too chanllangeing -- he needs to feel successful, yk?

so about the baby sleep -- my 2 year old though 3:30 to 4 am was the time to START THE DAY all last week and i thought i was gonna die.

Ya, I'm totally over this no sleeping thing
I'm all about fun preschool. I wouldn't worry about him being "behind" either. Kids develop different;y, and a lot of stuff depends on their personality. My 4 yr old does things my oldest NEVER would have done at his age. She wasn't behind though, just a different kid with different interest. I think the peak with books looks like a great preschool program(order it now! stop waffling ), that will really get kids ready to learn We did similar stuff, with some of those books actually, when my DD was younger. I think that's why I like FIAR it reminds me of those times I also love that it touches on lots of topics. At this age I would rather expose my kids to a wide variety of things, only going in deep to what they are interested in.
