Anyone good with hanging displays?

I have 12 antique plates my great grandmother painted. They are all 9 inches. I want to put them up on my dining room wall. Rows look odd and are never straight. I am kind of at a loss on how to organize them. The space is 5 feet wide by 4 feet high. I could also spread onto the other side of the window but then the width would be 3 feet. Though I kind of prefer them to be all together in a group and not so spread out. Does anyone have any ideas ow I can go about this?

My mom has some plates on the wall and she bought some chair rail type molding to build a "frame" around them. She painted the frame to match the woodwork in the house and it looks very nice.

I have saucers just scattered on a dining room wall. Dh says it looks like we threw plates at the wall and they stuck there but whenever someone comes over they compliment me on it.
