What's your favorite seed catalog? I've never really requested them before, I just buy them at the nursery, but I want to order them this year! Are they regional at all? The seem to base in the east and midwest, I'm in northern California.

Anyhoo, where do you order your seeds?

I love seed savers exchange, territorial seed company, and most of all baker creek seeds.

I generally stick with Baker Creek (rareseeds.com), which is based in Missouri or Arkansas, I think, and Seeds for the South (seedsforthesouth.com) which is in Georgia, although the latter is specifically for the south, zones 7-9, so that probably won't do you any good.

Baker Creek.
Irish Eyes.
Territorial.
Nichol's.
Simmons Plant Farm.
Heirloom Acre Seeds (although they stopped printing a catalog last year to keep costs down, but still have their website!)
Bountiful Gardens

Other catalogs but that I haven't ordered from (yet)...
Raintree
I can't think of anything more, but there's lots of 'em. I lvoe catalog season.

ETA: Stark Bros Nursery - got their catalog yesterday. As well as Cook's Garden (although there's so many hybrids in there, meh).

Territorial is amazing. More than just seeds, they have vast amounts of information on the vegetables (and fruit and flowers, etc.), when and how to plant, etc. It's always educational! And great for us temperate climate folk.

high mowing has organic seeds. http://highmowingseeds.com/

If you are planing on ordering from Baker Creek or just want a catalog - I suggest getting it now. They ran out of catalogs quick last year and the same with certain seeds.

Just coming on here to ask this very question! Great suggestions!

I really like supporting the businesses behind Southern Exposure Seed Exchange and the Sand Hill Preservation Center, myself. Their catalogs aren't as pretty as some, but their selections are nice and, like I said, really worthwhile organizations.

Fedco
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange
Horizon Herbs

Fedco. They are pretty close to us and I know if they can grow it, then so can I.

Another vote for Baker Creek. Not only is their catalog beautiful, they are a really great company. They donate seeds to non-profits, schools, prisons, and other countries. And, they are about an hour from my house. You can check out their website too at http://www.rareseeds.com

I really like Pine Tree. They are very cheap and have lots of good varieties. Also, Peaceful Valley Farm Supply (groworganic is their website) is great and is in Northern California (my home county, actually!). Everyone who works there is really knowledgable, so they are a great source of answers to your questions. \

Baker Creek's is one of those catalogs I hang on to as a kind of garden porn.

ETA: Ha, I missed you saying the same vermontmomma. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that when I get it.

Garden porn!

That's what my DH calls it for me too, I thought I was the only one!!

Whenever he gets the mail he does this big dramatic sigh and says REALLY loudly to my teenager..."GREAAAAT...your mom's porn collection is showing up again" and the two of them get a BIG guffaw out of it.

I don't care. I still read it and dream of digging my hands into the warm, soft earth as it yields all the wonderful crops...sigh....

Aaaaaaaaanyways...

I just ordered every single catalog mentioned that I haven't seen before. Can't wait! The turtle seeds one though, where's the order link on their site? Maybe I'm not seeing it?

(so excited to be planning our garden...SQUEE!)
