smelly poop question

My EBF DS has been stretching out to 3-4 days between poops for the last 3 weeks or so. Previously, he had been pooping once a day like clockwork. I know that its not uncommon for LO's his age to go days between poops but now when he does poop, it smells bad. I'm used to the buttermilk/yogurt smell of BF poops. It looks normal, same consistency and maybe a little more yellow/brown than yellow/orange. Is this a bad thing? Has this happened to anyone else?

My DS occasionaly has a week where he'll go a few days without pooping, and then we he does poop it smells awful! Before he started solids and he did this the poop would also be thicker/darker. I don't think it has happened as much since he's really started eating more solids. I guess it's normal

That happened to my LO as well. I can't remember how old he was, maybe around 5 months. His poops went from one/day to one every few days and they smelled BAD. He also had stinky gas to go along with them. I did mention it to his Dr, who didn't think it was anything to worry about.

It's normal in my household too. DD will sometimes poop twice a day, and sometimes poop once every 2-3 days. I've learned not to worry about poop. Hey, poop happens! LOL

I could have written this post almost word for word. My son just turned four months, not sure about the age of your DS. He has even started to go 6 days now the past two weeks. Also, the consistency has changed a bit, too. Almost like soft serve (a little bit firmer than it use to be but not hard) and the smell really is bad. I have noticed that the smell changed a bit when I started taking new pre-natals that are super duper plant based. I've even noticed the smell of my own has changed a bit (TMI).
I'm seeing my pediatrician next week and I am going to double check that all is ok, and at what point do I possibly help him along.
