What to eat?! Craving gluten!

I've been on a gluten free diet since January. I'm not celiac, but I suspect I'm gluten intolerant, and I decided to stay on a gf diet until after I'm done having a baby, just in case. I've been having such a yucky taste in my mouth for several weeks now (I'm about 7 weeks pg), and really craving a subway sandwich or french bread or something not gf! I'm trying not to think about it, as I'm not going to risk eating wheat while pg, but I can't think of a single thing that's "good to eat". Everything just makes me feel nauseas. Argh!

It could be that you're craving carbs/grains, not gluten in particular. How about something starchy like rice pasta, gluten-free muffins, etc? How about a huge bowl of white rice?

i agree with ruthla!
see if you can satisfy the craving with some other carbs and see if that helps.

DH made wonderful gf chocolate brownies, but they're not doing it for me. We actually had pasta for lunch, and I can't "face" it. It's not exactly gluten that I'm craving, but a real bread of some kind. Dh actually made good gf bread (I'm pretty lucky)....but it's just not the same! I'm drooling over having a bagel with lox and cream cheese and red onions or something like that...from my previous life! Thanks for letting me whine...

I think if you're seriously craving that, you should try a small portion and then see how you feel.

What exactly are you worried about that you aren't eating gluten? Lots of people have intolerances, but it mainly manifests in farts...is it something due to the baby?

Honestly, I think I may have a touch of it myself, but I could never ever ever give up bread & crackers even under the most dire of circumstances! My neighbor has severe gluten issue & celaic, and I felt so bad for her during her pregnancy. I was eating 3 loaves of bread a week! How could she not eat anything?

If it was me, I'd have broken weeks ago. It's a scientific fact that pg women crave carbohydrates like bread, pasta, etc. It's what helps keep us full & fat. Good luck!

I lost a lot of weight after my son's birth, and at some point the Dr's thought I either had Crohn's or celiac or even cancer. They couldn't pin anything on me, and since I'm such a worrier, I started getting all kinds of stomach issues going through all that, and went down to 111 lbs and I'm 5'6". With being off gluten, eventually my stomach issues resolved themselves (or it could've been just time), but I never did get all my pre-pg weight back. However, celiac tests aren't always accurate when they're negative, and having gluten when you're celiac is a risk factor for m/c. So, just in case, I decided, I'd have a baby, and then experiment with having gluten again. I don't really know what would happen if I had gluten, but it's such a lifestyle for us now, I'm afraid what if I had a piece of bread and that harmed the baby?

I could eat a huge bowl of sushi rice... I use to crave it with cut up cukes and soy sauce. I think that needs to go on the shopping list asap.
