Kinda Funny...

I wasnt sure where to put this...
I have had two successful homebirths with midwives for my 2 kids, and are of course planning a 3rd homebirth (water)...any way, my MIL came over for dinner a couple days ago (she was present for BOTH births) and asked if I was still going to use a midwife...
I was like, um, yep...she wanted to know why I wanted "natures epidural" when I could just have a real one in a hospital...I was like, um...because....
Anyway, the best part is that we start talking about my last birth and how *I* felt that my midwives were a little too interventionist. (I was only in labour 10 hrs and they stripped, and stretched my cervix etc.) So I switched midwives.
Anyway, so she says "I am just so glad that we had a medical professional here." < meaning my paramedic husband!!!
Was she SERIOUS?!!
Midwives are WAY WAY WAY more qualified than paramedics at delivering babies.
Dont get me wrong I think my husband is a great paramedic, but he had one hospital rotation for birth and saw 7 births....5 C- Sections and 2 Vag Births, one was a vacuum extraction, the other and episiodemy.
LMAO!

LOL I have to say that I wonder what the point of seeing 5 C-sections would be for a paramedic? Generally speaking when paramedics attend births they are very fast straightforward...and often already delivered, aren't they? It's not like they are going to try to do their own c-sec...lol!

It's amazing the perception of people though...as if we all need rescuing. I do need mw attendants due to bleeding issues and a past sd but they only help with what I need, the actual delivery and immediate pp.

lol, I could have written your post! Right down to the paramedic husband. Hilarious isn't it? Although my MIL isn't invited to my births. She just lives too far, but I've heard that 'medical professional' remark. lol!
