Wisdom teeth removel and breastfeeding

Hi my dd is 11 months and still Breastfeeds every 4 hours...

I am getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow and most probably will be receiving anesthesia. Is it safe to nurse 4-6 hours after?

Should be fine. Let them know you're breastfeeding, but I don't think it's a problem. My sister was in an accident and had to get light anesthesia as well as pain medication while she was nursing. We researched it pretty heavily and it looked like it was okay. There may be some mild sedative effects on the baby, but it's safe.

I don't have an answer for you, but I have a wisdom tooth cutting right now so I know I will be in a similar boat soon. I would suggest calling the dental office and telling them what you are having done and ask if it will be ok to breastfeed after. They should know what anesthesia they are using and if it is safe for nursing mom patients. Good luck tomorrow!

My DD was 8 months old at the time and I nursed her right before I went under and I was able to nurse her as soon as I was awake enough to hold her safely. I was put under with a general anesthetic and I was able to take percocet and advil as needed for pain afterwards.

This is what all the books say - safe to nurse when safe to hold baby. Kellymom has some really good info:

Good luck with the procedure!
