My 15 month old has an enamel defect. He is missing enamel, with dentin exposed on several teeth. He is getting caps on 8 teeth in the middle of january. In the mean time, it is imperative that he not get any cavaties that could break the teeth, creating a dental emergency. I (along with the pediatric dentist of course) have decided to nightwean to protect his exposed teeth. I just put him to bed (an hour after his normal bedtime so he would be very sleepy) without any crying and only some minor pulling on my shirt. It was relatively easy, although we haven't hit the middle of the night wakings yet.

The hardest part for me to reconcile with is

I just nursed his 3.5 yr old brother to sleep.

It is so unfair.
