Can We Talk about Raw Milk For Toddlers Again?

I know this subject has been hashed out a bit already. Humor me.

I have to supplement my 12 month old breastfed DD when I am at work. She gets half EBM/half organic dairy formula when I am gone. Since she is getting to be a year old I was thinking of switching her to something else.

I drink raw grass-fed cow's milk from a local farm. It's great. I'm WAY too nervous to give it to her. Can you talk me into it or tell me better alternatives? Thanks!

I might make sure to give only the freshest raw milk at that age, but raw grassfed cow's milk seems fine. You know the beneficial bacteria and the enzymes keep anything bad in check or you wouldn't be drinking it yourself, raw milk sours rather than spoiling like pasteurized stuff does so once both have been opened a couple times raw is way safer. Goat's milk would be a touch better. Increasing your breastmilk supply and sticking with as much of that would of course be ideal for at least another year.

My DS1 started getting raw milk ~15 months or so when I first started getting it. I was slightly neverous at first, but its been fine - none of us have ever had any issues. And I only really started giving him milk when I could get it raw - before that he might have had milk once or twice.

Can you find non-homoginized, but pasturized milk? Our local store carries it and that is what we drink.

DS started getting milk when he was about 15 mo. Just a little bit as a treat and then the amount increased when my milk dried up when he was 19 mo (surprise pregnancy). What milk he does get is always raw--no exceptions.
