RN's-are they any un-traditional nursing programs out there?

I am looking into becoming a nurse and am wondering if there is any sort of "alternative" nursing school or if I would go the traditional RN route and then specialize later? Ideally I'd love to work in a freestanding birth center, for a DO or naturopath etc. something along those lines...i've looked online and called the american holistic nurses association and am waiting to hear back. are they any un-traditional nursing programs out there?
TIA!

There are masters programs out there that take you from an unrelated bachelor's degree to a master's degree.

Our local medical college (of Georgia) has one that ends up with someone getting a MSN and being a clinical nurse leader. http://www.mcg.edu/Son/cnl.htm

I have a friend enrolled in this program. Her undergrad is health promotions and behavior, though, so she feels like the RN behind her name could help in her career in education. She's not planning to be a family nurse practitioner or the like.

Georgetown has a program that takes someone from a bachelor's (unrelated) to a more clinical MSN. Family nurse practitioner, acute care NP (working like in the ER or urgent care), and education are the paths available there. http://nhs.georgetown.edu/academics/...admininfo.html

Un-traditional as in content? I don't think so. All fresh RN's have learned the same thing in school, state board is standardized so schools must teach their students the same basic things.

Usually nurses specialize after they get their RN or an NP student can select their specialty during the program.
