I know have a new found appreciation for sappy Hallmark made for TV movies as I think my life this past month could qualify for a viable plot. My Dr just released me from the hospital after a week!!! I was just about convinced by the perinatologist that I was going to have my baby last Friday, and here I am, 34 weeks exactly, lying on my own bed! How quickly things change once you hit 34 weeks (and get second opinions from your OB and not the rounding perinatologist who has never seen you but makes a judgement by sticking his fingers up your hoo hoo for 1 minute).
I have more fleshed out details of the trials of the past week on my blog http://little-linus.blogspot.com/ and will post pictures there and more updates, but wanted to give you all the quick update because you all contributed to the positive vibes that I know along with STRICT bedrest got me here.
I am on the max dose of procardia (20mg every 4 hours) and not needing fluid b/c I can eat and drink w/o problem. Blood pressure isn't too low, no temperature-- just contracting consistently...but my threshold was pushed to "labor" the other day. This means that if I go into labor, there is nothing more than can do but deliver. (Too late for mag sulfate--the risks aren't worth it since the baby is so far along). And the procardia will slowly stop being as effective. 3cm and 70% effaced. SO, might as well rot in my own bed rather than the hospital and endure monitoring ever hour, hospital gowns and awful hospital food. (I also live 15 minutes from the hospital, so they felt good about that, too). I just promised the doctor I would stay on strict bed rest--like only getting up to go to the bathroom and shower. That's IT!
The ultrasound today indicated the baby is 5lb 3oz! and he has lots of hair. My son was born at 34 weeks any 4lb 9oz, so this is HUGE. And his head is pretty much engaged in my pelvis
Here's to spending Christmas at home--albeit in my bed.
There is nothing like coming home and having my peanut butter breath toddler jump on the be and kiss me over and over and over.
I think I'll be calling Hallmark tomorrow...and watch me beg to be induced at 42 weeks.
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!
