Raw-milk operation faces heat; Fraser Health Authority again tries to shut down farm

http://www.kelowna.com/2009/12/22/ra...hut-down-farm/

" Here at home, you have to wonder where Fraser Health could better spend its scarce health dollars to keep us healthy rather than using them to stomp like Big Brother on a few people who prefer raw milk.

Widespread tobacco and alcohol abuse come to mind."

Thanks for posting this. I live in BC and wish I could afford the Chilliwack cow shares to get real milk locally. As it is I drive across the border to Washington state to get it.
It burns me that this is where they are spending their time and our money. Can't wait to hear the verdict on the Schmidt case. I hope it changes everything.

I wish they just would legalize raw milk! I wish I could find some locally.

I'm on the Island and am a member of a very, very small cowshare - I think for the time being that's the way to go. We pick up directly from the farm... it seems that the reason the Chilliwack herdshare keeps getting targeted is because they have distribution sites.

I don't agree with the current legislation, but the way it's written you must own the actual cow that the milk comes from, I think, not the herd... so a herdshare is different than a cowshare. Legally, Fraser Health MAY have a leg to stand on. It sucks, but that's the law now. I am praying to all the gods of small people and agriculture that Schmidt wins his case, finally.

… And the saga continues. New news releases. Good to see some people are writing in and getting published showing support for the farm and raw milk. Apparently they have nothing better to do at Fraser Health.

Thanks for sharing that. I live in Chilliwack and have been considering starting on raw dairy for some time. This makes me want to support them even more. I can't believe the CDC! For REAL. They have better things they could be doing. This has conspiracy written all over it as far as I'm concerned.
