magic bullet and preparing baby food

Thread Starter
This is weird to ask, but does anyone have the magic bullet and love/hate it for preparing baby food. I have two brand new and I was trying to sell one craigslist and keep one, but I have two offers. I haven't used it yet myself, but I was planning on making baby food with it. But, I'm short on cash, so if it's not useful, I can sell both easily. What do you think? Do you use the magic bullet for baby food or other food? Is it useful? My DS is almost 6m so soon I'll start trying to make food.

I think that depends on how much food you think you'll need to prepare. We have a bullet and we use it here and there for baby food. We do purees and BLW mixed together, kinda 50-50% at this point, but more purees when she was younger. But if you're planning to go more with BLW and not so much purees, you wouldn't need the bullet for baby food.

we have one and it's all we use for purees. it's small and easy to clean. the parts go in the dishwasher.

We use one and I like it. It does have a smokey smell though after lots of use over a year and a half, but it's just because it has parts inside the main part that are hard to clean. It's working great otherwise!

we've really liked ours for purees; we just put the steam lid on and stick it in the microwave, then puree, and done!
before dd2 was into purees and dd1 was done with them, we still used it a fair bit for "deceptively delicious" meals.
also, you can make yummy frozen drinks with them (ie. iced cappucinos)!

We love ours for baby food, hummus, salsa, smoothies and a bunch more. So easy to throw in the dishwasher.

Do you have a blender? If so, sell the Magic Bullets and use regular Mason jars on your blender. The thread is the same size/type as your blender jug but you can make smaller batches and make the food right in the jars. I hate having too many kitchen gadgets, they take up so much space!

I loved my magic bullet when dd was at that age. Used it constantly.

Absolutely! I just made pear sauce for my little guy (opened pears that we canned last year, drained juices, stuck the blade part on the jar (750ml) and pushed go, no muss no fuss) and then I made a smoothie for DD, plunked all the ingredients in the jar (500ml) put the blade on and whipped it up. I have made a modified seal that fits the jar for her straw even!

oh, forgot to add, you can get 250ml jam jars that fit as well, but the 125ml jars are a little small. they work, but there isn't much room for food!

So just a regular blender and a regular quart-sized canning jar? Hm.

I just tried this with mine, and it does not work w/ the wide-mouth jars, lol.

No, it only works with the 70mm jars.

Totally works.

I save all the mason jars from pasta sauces (I use them as drinking glasses ), and it fit perfectly onto my blender blade. All the more reason to keep them (Plus I can reuse them for all the pickling I want to do next week)

I've got a cheapo knock-off magic bullet and I love it for baby food and everything else. I use it almost everyday.

My ds1 is allergic to peanuts, and I use the m.b. to make almond butter and sunbutter for him (and us), too.

I've got one, and I LOVE it. I also have a little hand-grinder, which works if it's just a small meal I'm making for her. But a lot of the time, I make baby food in big batches and freeze it in ice trays. The bullet is SO much quicker and easier (and easier to clean) than the hand-grinder.

If you're planning on freezing large batches of baby food, I'd go with the bullet.
