Ear Infection

I am posting here as I am not allowed to post in health and healing.

My ds (2 yrs) has an ear infection with some brown discharge. I wasn't sure if he was really having some discharge or if he just got some food in his ear. Well, it is definatly discahrge. He is pretty miserable, and I know hearing loss is possible when there is damage to the eardrum (which is where I suppose the discharge is coming from?) He hasn't been sick, so this is on it's own I think. We have been swimming a lot. And he does have a fever. What can I do for him untill morning? His dr is in at 9am. Is he ok until then on some tylenol? What are my options at 9:30 in the evening.

My daughter only had a couple mild ear infections, and he has never had any, so I am new to this. I usually prefer natural healing, but am not sure if that is best for this.

Thanks mamas.

If he is having a lot of pain and has discharge, I would make a trip to the ER. I am not one to run off to the doctors, but my (adult) friend recently burst her eardrum with an infection, and she said it was more painful than childbirth. I wouldn't want my kid to go through that.

If he is already sleeping, let him sleep. But if he is awake and miserable, head in. IMHO, anyways.
