Sewing a ring sling...need help.

Thread Starter
I want to sew my own unpadded ring sling. Does anyone know the pros and cons of aluminum vs. nylon rings? Also, what type of fabric is best? And finally, are there a few really good tutorials online that you've used in the past and that have worked (I googled, but want personal opinions and suggestions from experience). I need one with pictures, if possible.

Thanks!

I used this to make mine. I used a woven cotton which I really like. It's breathable & has pretty much no stretch. I think stretchy material would be uncomfortable. I personally used metal rings. I think the nylon rings are a little bit lighter but I prefer metal to synthetic materials myself. I think it is more personal preference than anything.

Good luck! We LOVE the slings I made & they get so much use still!

I've been wondering this myself, and was about to ask this!

My sewing machine is hidden somewhere in the depths of our storage shed, does anyone know a 'no sew' way of making one of these? Or a simple way one could be hand sewn? I dont think my fingers could take pushing a needle through six layers of fabric.

Jan Andrea @ Sleeping Baby Productions has amazing tutorials and some info about fabric choices as well. If you scroll down here you'll see links to the ring sling tutorials on the far left, there are quite a few. I've used this one of hers before with good success.
