just got a positive test result! My dh were not trying, in fact thought we were done- already have a 7 yo ds and 4 yo dd. We feel old too (I'm 37, he's almost 46). Definitely mixed emotions- I have nothing for a baby anymore, and feel like I don't even really remember that phase! But starting to come around, and felt like sharing-

Hubby and I are in nearly the same boat as you, except he is 49 years old. My youngest had started all day kindergarten the Monday before I found out I was expecting this baby and I am...uh...was supposed to graduate with my PhD right around the time she is due. I am a little concerned about diapers & late nights again, but am really excited to have another baby to snuggle and nurse!
My advice: sit back and enjoy the ride as much as possible. I have learned that sometimes my plans aren't nearly as good as the ones God has for my life. I am hoping this is one of those times because having another baby right now certainly wasn't my plan!

Welcome and congratulations! And it will eventually sink in, I promise. Well, sort of. I am 18 weeks along and there are still mornings I wake up and go, "What the holystinkinheck!!!!??? How did this happen????"

I am 32 weeks and still think, "what the heck am I doing?" and still feel like this is just a dream or my imagination gone wild or something.
We were quite a few years away from starting a family, if ever, but, we just went with it for some reason. It still scares me to think about doing this (especially in just a few weeks) but I think seeing the little boy will be worth it.
Congrats! And Happy Holidays!

DD, who was born in July, was most definitely NOT planned!!! We knew we wanted another but hoped to wait until my son was at least 2yo (we got PG when he was 13 months). I was shocked and a little scared - and truth be told, I did not fully accept the idea of a new baby until she was actually here!!
I truly believe that its these special surprises in life that make it the awesome journey that it is. Congrats!!! It will be great!!!

and congrats! This is the "oops" baby after the "oops" baby, we were stopping at 2. So I can understand the mixed emotions. My first little surprise, baby #3, is now 17 months and sitting on the floor rooting through her big brother's gifts, I can't imagine being without her.
So don't feel bad about those mixed emotions, mama, it's perfectly understandable!

Heeeeyyyy! I'm 37 years old, and I don't think I'm too old!
But, I did marry a younger man. DH is 35.
Anyway, give yourself some time to let it sink in and then congratulations! (My aunt had twins at 40, by the way, 10 years after her 2nd child was born. They adjusted, and it was like that was what the family was meant to be.)
