GF help

I am making potato-cheese soup for New Year's Eve. I normally make a roux with wheat flour, but our friends are GF. Can I make a GF roux? What shall I use instead of wheat flour, and will it change the taste/texture of the soup?

I use either a gluten-free flour (such as rice flour or Bob's Red Mill All Purpose Gluten-free) or (don't laugh), if I'm out, I substitute infant rice cereal--the stuff is practically flour anyhow and it also makes a great thickener. About all it is good for IMO.

Thanks! I will see what I have. I do have some GF stuff in the pantry, so maybe I already have something that will work. Thank you!
