bf but not sharing colds

We've had a string of illness since November. It developed into influenza A, which I *think* was swine because we passed on to family who had seasonal flu shots. Anyhow...

DS is now sick AGAIN with an upper respiratory cold, low grade fever.

I'm very confused because I ALWAYS get whatever he has, and worse, right away.

Given that he still nurses, why does it seem I'm immune to whatever he has? And why is he getting sicker? Okay, these questions don't make much sense - wondering if other nursing moms have NOT gotten sick from their nurslings.

you know, i don't know.. helpful, huh?

my DH got sick, then my DS got it (turned into croup with him, he had to get meds for that on the 2nd day) and now 10 days after DH got it and 7 days after DS, i have it and it is BAD.. i always get what DS has and i am always sicker than anyone else.. DS was pretty sick and he still has a runny nose (day 8) but i feel like i am going to die. DS and DH were never this sick.. and
my non-nursing almost 4 yr old DD has something that seems totally different (fever with no other symptoms, not even upset about it)

we have been passing around various illnesses for months now (since august) , and since he was born, DS has gotten probably 90% of the things i have gotten and i have gotten sick every time he has.. you'd think the one who is nursing would be less sick.. and i don't know why i'm always getting everything.. we are so careful about hand washing and i keep up on all sorts of vitamins .. extra vit. C , elderberry extract every day etc.

Sometimes she will get sick and I dont, sometimes I get sick and she doesnt. We had swine flu come through our home and all she got was a clear runny nose for 3 days. I was way sicker than her. I caught a cold shortly after and she didnt get sick at all. She had a stomach bug and I got nothing. I still like that when she wont take anything she will always take my milk. So even if she does get sick I can still keep her hydrated.

I think I figured out the mystery. He's got some kind of viral croup. Joy!
