Hello,
Can anyone here talk a bit about Science of Mind? I think I went with an aunt of mine to a Religious Science "church"(?) as a kid and it seemed a little odd, but it wasn't unpleasant or anything. But I don't remember too much about it. I'd like to know more (and don't have much contact with the aforementioned aunt).
I believe in God - in everyone/everything, and also as the Infinite that is within and beyond the universe. I think we have a hard/impossible time comprehending the Infinite, so we try to make sense of it in finite terms, thus religions, anthropomorphizing of God (texts, etc.), even science is an attempt to understand God's manifestations in the world. I would like to find a community with a God-focus, but I do also think I have New Age-y leanings...maybe. I don't think God is (or only is, anyway) a dude in the sky. I think God is...everything and then some. I think one can have a personal relationship with God, but to push God into the old-bearded-man box is to limit It.
So, yeah...Science of Mind. What's it about? I've read the Wikipedia entry, but I'm looking for personal experiences. How is it different from Christian Science? The Unity Church?
Also, on a related note...but different...has anyone here regularly attended a Reform Judaism synagogue without being Jewish?
Thanks!
