Post Partum Pain Meds...

Last time around (vag delivery, some tearing w/ stitches) I was told to alternate tylenol and motrin as needed to help. Well I felt more loopy than anything.
This time around I want to do a more natural alternative any recommendations besides a shot of Guiness?

Are you sure the loopiness was due to the medications? Neither one of those typically alter your mind. Maybe just fatigue post birth?

I have to agree with cileag - I've taken my fair share of each medication, and never felt anything other than annoyed that they didn't work better. My midwife does have herb compresses that she gives to mamas who have had tearing, and a tincture to help ease the after pains while nursing, but other than that, tylenol for inflammation is the best I can recommend.

I was in a similar boat - some tearing & stitches. I took 2 Tylenol & 1 Motrin every howevermany hours - 6, maybe? Not sure that the loopiness would come from either - neither should impact cognitive function.

You can try arnica (homeopathic). It didn't really touch afterpains for me, but probably helped my perineal swelling/soreness.

Yeah I felt loopy. I never take medication, at all. So maybe there was too much in my system or something???? Maybe the two stacked were too much for me???

I'm guessing loopy from blood loss + hormones + possibly not getting enough sleep for X hours during labor .

I feel odd and slightly detached even with the "harmless" painkillers like ibuprofen and tylenol.

If you have to pick one, go with the ibuprofen, because it's actually going to work on the swelling where tylenol is mostly just going to block pain.
