I don't have any names, but have gotten a lot of garden activity books from both the kid and adult sections at our library.Even online I found a lot of good pages showing things like hide-aways made with growing sunflowers, morning glories, and corn.Doing a butterfly or hummingbird garden is fun too.We raised a few butterflies.Creating a pond(even a small on in a barrel) will attract dragon flies, and open up a world to water plants.
The boys will just love tending to seeds they have planted and watch them grow into towering plants or fragrant flowers.Edible gardens are fun.
What sort of books exactly are you looking for? We've got 'Roots, Shoots, Buckets and Boots' but honestly, my sons aren't huge on the ideas we've gotten from it. Their favorite books are actually field guides. They looooove to try to identify the insects, birds, plants and tracks they find in the garden. I just pick up whatever field guides I can find whenever we stop at the used bookstore.
My ds is into bugs and I got him a bug catcher, actually he's been through several bug catchers. So they can really get a look at them and use a bug guide so they can identify them and then release them. Kids in the garden is so much fun.
I find with my 3.5 year old that reading the seed packets once they arrive is the bees knees. He loves to "scatter, plop, or bury" the seeds and see pics of what he is planting. We also do plenty of radishes because they are so quick to come up and really keep his interest fresh. Fun summer ahead!
