Lollipop cake help!

DD is having her 3rd birthday party tomorrow, and she wants a lollipop cake. She's obsessed with lollipops, as well as the oldies song "Lollipop" by the Chordettes . I have the cake baking now. I need help with how to do the swirls on the top & sides of it. What would be the best way to do that? I only have homemade frosting here. No particular colors as long as it looks like a lollipop!

Thanks for any tips or help!

Put your icing in a ziplock bag, snip on lower corner, and squeeze it out in a spiral.

Would it look stupid if I did circles of different colors? Or should I try to swirl the frosting in the bag first?

I think I'd just do a base color with a spatula and then one or two color spirals. Make the first spiral wide enough to do another one inside of it.

Great idea, I think I'll do that. I hope it turns out! If it does, I'll share pictures .
