We will be buying a new mattress come this new yr, we have too. Ours is old and although it was well made mattress it has done its service plus we are upgrading in size from a Queen to King (we cosleep and hopefully we'll have another babe in bed with us soon
)
Unfortunately buying an organic non flame retardant mattress just isnt in our budget. We live in CA and although there are actually TONS of places to shop from that have those they are very prohibitively out of the budget. Plus we need a new mattress now, saving would take another 10 yrs and we dont do credit unless its an emergency.
Does anyone have any info in terms of manuf. among "mainstream" manuf. (sealy,serta,etc) and what chemicals they use on their products. Im really concerned about the whole flame retardants issue and latex is out of the question. We have tried the air chamber beds but it too is too much. I wonder if there is one company that is a little more non toxic than another. I use lots of things on top of the mattress (featherbed,mattress protector, sheets) so there would be several layers and Im hoping to allow it to "off gas" a few weeks in the garage if possible. Im lost any help would be appreciated.
