Zodiac Signs: Women with Masculine Polarity and Vice-Versa

I've recently taken an interest in learning more about the signs of the Zodiac.

And I'm Gemini (May 26) which has a masculine polarity.

I'm just wondering what it means? Does it mean I'm not as feminine as, say, a Taurus or Cancer woman? And what is the meaning of masculinity/femininity in the context of these signs?

I DO find that the descriptions of Gemini-people are quite reflective of what I am like -- and I don't mean in the same sense that you could read ANY sign and think you were seeing parts of yourself.

At the same time, I don't think I could ever get interested in following my horoscope day-by-day. I just find it interesting in the sense of broadening my understanding of myself and others.

Hmm...I've never heard of masculine/feminine polarity in zodiac signs.

Subbing for more info.

I'm a Capricorn with Virgo rising and a Sagittarius moon, if it matters.

Ooh! How do you figure out what's rising and what moon you are under?

I was at one site where it looked like they wanted you to pay to find out that stuff. And I can't buy anything right now.

Is there a way to figure it out on your own? I was born on May 26, 1964.

This is the site I got my free chart from:

Chaos Astrology

You can pay for a better chart, but I thought the free one was great!

Wow! Thank you, Purple Sage. It's a lot to take in, and I really like that site.

From what I can tell, it looks like I have a Sagitarius moon, just like you -- and it says "Sun in Gemini" -- but I can't tell if that means "Gemini rising" or if there is something else "rising."

I'll have to spend some more time with it later on.

Your sun sign and your rising sign are different.

"The Rising Sign is the sign on the 1st house cusp of your personal horoscope. This is the face you wear in public, how others see you, and your Astrological Mask."

Here's a rising sign calculator.

Oh, so it looks like I'm a Gemini with Leo rising and a Sagitarius moon.

My husband is Capricorn like you, by the way!

I like to use Astrodienst for free charts. On Astrodienst you can store up to 100 unique charts for comparison and reference. They also have an active astrology forum that is really good for asking and learning on a beginner to an advanced level. The CafeAstrology website is also a good place for learning basics and also discusses some more advanced techniques as well.

The feminine and masculine polarity does and doesn't have a lot to do with being feminine or masculine. It does because it colors the sign in it's basic attributes. It doesn't though because there is so much more to consider in a chart. So a Gemini Sun could have her Venus in Taurus and be very feminine. To me I think of it as the feminine signs as being receptive and the masculine signs as being outward. Masculine Gemini is a very outward sign, and feminine Taurus is not so much. I also experience it as the masculine signs as having a certain amount of detachment that the feminine signs generally don't have.

Funny, I have Sagittarius rising and Virgo moon. Sagittarius is always seeking.

Oh, and my Venus is in Cancer, which I think is a feminine sign!

Whereas my sun (Gemini), my moon (Sagitarius) and my rising (Leo) are all masculine/outgoing.

If you think of it as outgoing versus receptive -- I feel like I am both. And maybe my Venus being in Cancer is what "saves" me from being totally masculine, LOL. Well, and maybe also my breasts, ovaries, and womb, LOL.

I am wondering -- all I know about the time of my birth is that my parents said it was in the morning, somewhere "around" 10 AM. It doesn't even give the time on my birth certificate. How important is it to know the exact hour-and-minute time?

And, Theia, I agree about the "always seeking" part.

I am so glad to finally be free from fundamentalist religious fear. I used to occasionally dabble my fingers in this stuff -- but then be overwhelmed by guilt and fear and feel like I needed to totally stay away from it.

Now I can finally look into it to my heart's content, and it is so much fun and so educational.

The part I bolded: The Ascendent changes every 2 hours. It is commonly referred to as the Eastern part of a chart. To have it to the exact minute is really important if you are following transits (movement of planets) or comparing your chart with another persons or event. There is a technique, it's advanced, but it's called rectification. To rectify a chart is to find the correct time of birth. Someone who is experienced in rectification will take significant life events (ex: death of parent/marriage/birth of child), create charts for those events and compare them to your known (incorrect) birthchart. Doing this will show points that are in common on specific degrees of the rising sign. I'm not explaining it well, probably cuz I've never rectified a chart. An accurate time is important in determining your moon sign sometimes. The moon moves approx 13degrees per day. So if your moon comes up at the end or beginning of a sign and your birth time isn't very accurate, it could mean that the moon is really in the sign before/after the one it is in based on the guessed birthtime.

The Asc also is the point that determines the other angles of the chart. The degree of the Asc is the point in time that you were born. If your Asc were in Gemini also, it would mean you were born at/around sunrise. The Descendent is considered sunset and is 180 degrees away from the Asc always. So, it's pretty important to have an accurate birthtime in order to have an accurate professional reading.
