Even though we had agreed not to exchange gifts....DH surprised me with La Dolce Vegan. He said he looked everywhere for Isa's new brunch book and couldn't find it. This one looks great though. Looking forward to trying some of her breads and her seitan (I'm usually not a fan, but have never made my own.)

SIL bought DH and I Clean Food, which appears to be vegan, for the most part. Although omni, she has been very supportive of our veganism.

We got...

-subscription to vegetarian times from MIL(family gift) Havent had one in 2 years and I miss it!!
-MIL bought dh Companys Coming Simply Vegetarian-He had it years ago and loved it and hasnt been able to find it BUT he doesnt think this is the same one. Does look decent though
-MIL bought me Easy Vegetarian-lots of pictures VERY CHEESY
-I bought dh Healthy Eating Coles Home mini menus Library Cookbooks-Vegetarian...found it at a second hand store and put it in his stocking

We don't eat dairy and I don't eat eggs and Im finding the books are really heavy. The one I bought isnt bad since I looked through it, the ones M-I-L bought oh man! cheesey! So I will have to do some altering but it's the first time she's tried and Im thankful for that

Can't wait to hear reviews on all of these new cookbooks! I'm really interested in how the 30min Vegan is!

I've tried 2 recipes from La Dolce Vegan and loved them both. We had the Brown Rice Breakfast Pudding for breakfast this morning and I made the quick seitan tonight for dinner in the "chicken" style (actually was really hoping it wasn't too close to chicken, or I would have gagged) and it was great! Very savory and tasted like yummy seitan. Easy too.

my meat-eating brother mailed me Veganomicon! i was completely not expecting it & was so pleased as i haven't added a new cookbook to my collection in ages (apart from the few old 2nd hand ones i stumbled upon & never used).

i definitely recommend it. it has lots of basic handy cooking tips & creative recipies to mix up your usual veg fare without going posh. some ingrediants are hard to track down in the rural NZ area where i live, but i can still piece it together.

yay!
