baby Silas is here

Yesterday, after a slow morning of mild, spaced out contractions, my labor kicked into high gear around 1 pm. We screeched into the hospital at 3:15, I got into the room fully dilated, and my midwife arrived after I had begun pushing (on my hands and knees, much to the horror of the doctor on call). Silas David was born at 3:53 pm. He had mild shoulder dystocia, but it was all fine in the end. He is 9 lb. 6 oz. (my biggest) and a cutie!

Congratulations! Sounds like it was a bit of a whilrwind. I love the name Silas.

With my youngest three kids, I puhsed on my hands and knees; I find it so much more comfortable than anything else.
