co-sleeping+tired mama

My ds shares our bed. He has recently begun crying in the night. Up until 2 months ago he did not wake in the night other than to turn over for milk once or twice. He is 11 months now and once I get to bed he cries constantly. He seems to be asleep during some of it. I would rather not get him attatched to having the bood in his mouth-he does not drink most of the time- he just likes the closeness. I end up cold and awake. Sometimes I can calm him with milk other times he thrashes around. SOme of this happened when we coslept with out dd and it ended up being very difficult because I was so sleep deprived. Any suggestions??

It could be he is teething.

I know how you feel...My 7 mo DS also shares my bed and will wake up every 2 hours crying. I nurse him back to sleep, though I have been worried that I'm creating a habit. I've tried comforting him back to sleep, but he only wants to nurse. He does nurse off both sides, so he must be hungry.

Could it be hunger or teething with your DS? I'll be interested in seeing what others have to say.

My 8m old just started doing this. he has never been a comfort nurser and yet he wants the nipple in his mouth all night long in addition to thrashing all over the place and moaning. It is teething related for him even though I still can't see them, I know they are coming!

My 6mo does this... in her case it's teething, but man o man is it frustrating. We were up the majority of the night last night because of this. I eventually had to pin her arms down and stroke her hair until she fell into a deep sleep. DH and I are taking turns taking naps to catch up on lost sleep.
