Giant four month old baby slowly crushing me to death!!!! - Page 2

I have back problems and big babies, so I can totally sympathize! I have to say, they Ergo is the only carrier I can use anymore that takes the weight off of my back enough so that I can get some stuff done and DS falls asleep in it sometimes too. I've even done yard work, like blowing the leaves with him in it and it worked great. I found the swing to be worthless this time, DS hated it. DD loved her swing and napped in it everyday. DS loved the high chair at 4 months, he could see me cooking and doing stuff in the kitchen and it gave my arms a break.

As for the overweight baby thing - I can't see how a baby that is either exclusively breastfed with no other source of calories could be overweight. DD was EBF and was a BIG baby. She was over 20 pounds around 3.5-4 months. Now at 4 years old, I worry she is too skinny, she has no fat on her at all. She is a tall, thin bean pole, lol. DS is formula fed since 6 weeks old, and even than, unless you are adding cereal to bottles or forcing them to eat when they aren't hungry, which wouldn't be too fun for anyone, I can't see how they would be "overweight". DS is big also, and has been since birth, just like DD. He's crawling now and I've noticed his weight starting to thin out a bit already, though his height is still on the fast track

I've seen a cool hanging bed/hammock thing- the woman who watches my daughter once a week has one and said my little darling took a nap in there (she is a baaaad napper if not being worn. Thank goodness she's not as big as your guy- or even her brother was)

I also swaddled up to 5m or so with both, and with my second I thought about getting a bouncy/vibrating chair (never had one for my first and didn't end up getting one for this girl either), but you should be able to find those used/free/cheap. I agree that they are probably very limited in their lifespan but I don't think you should feel the least bit bad about trying one out. Maybe you can borrow one for a few days and see if it even helps?

I like the ergo I have, but I still get tired carrying my little girl on the front after a while. Back is a bit more comfy but baby needs to be able to sit up well first.

Good luck! As you know as a mom of 4, this stage is, in retrospect, probably going to seem very short.

And on the weight gain- as you know, they do slow down! My son was 20lbs at 6m and 22 at 1 year. (he is now, at age 5, 95th percentile for height and 80th for weight. He's just big).
