I have longish think hair and I am growing it longer. I currently use Freeman Sea Kelp shampoo (from Big Lots at $2) and Giovanni 50/50 conditioner and I am happy with it. The Giovanni works pretty good considering it's more natural than most.

I also looooooove Aveda. I currently can't afford their shampoos/conditioners but I always use Aveda Beautifying Composition oil (on body and face) (I like their calming composition too). It smoothes my ends and smells great.

For a leave-in I really am happy with Giovanni's Direct Leave in Conditioner. Smells a little weird but the smell doesn't last. It really helps with detangling dd's hair.

Oh for a close (real close) match up of Aveda's scents for shampoo and conditioner go to Sally's Beauty Supply and buy some Aura Pure shampoo/conditioner (it smellls really close to Shampure) or the Rosemary/mint that smells like Aveda rosemary/mint. At a fraction of the cost of Aveda. It works decent for shorter hair I think, but the conditioner is not enough for my length (though I'm thinking now, maybe with the Giovanni Direct Leave in, it might work!).

I just wanted to comment on this. I looked it up online and the shampoo sounded so great that I ordered 2 bottles of it. It is the most amazing thing I have ever used. I have been using it for two weeks now and my hair is soo soft and shiny and beautiful. I wash my hair every other day and I don't need to use any conditioner. I love how the African Formula Shampoo conditions so deeply and also gently but thoroughly cleans. I also have a lot of scalp issues (dry, itchy, flaky scalp) and that has all been fixed with this Shampoo. The only thing I don't like about it is the smell (it smells and reminds me of old yogurt lol) but once it is washed out of my hair, my hair smells clean and fresh and I would put up with almost any smell because of how well it works on my hair. Everyone should try this shampoo!

Oh also is about $11 (plus shipping) per 8oz bottle so it is a little spendy but totally worth it!
